Job Objectives
We are seeking an experienced and ambitious Senior Architect to join our Building & Planning team and play a leading role in the delivery of complex, high-profile architectural projects across multiple sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented architect who thrives on technical challenges, enjoys leading multidisciplinary teams, and wants to make a meaningful impact through the delivery of high-quality built environments.
As a Senior Architect, you will take ownership of projects from initial feasibility and concept design through planning, detailed design, construction and final handover, while also acting as a key technical leader and mentor within the department.
The Role:
Architectural Design and Project Leadership

Lead the design and technical delivery of complex architectural projects from feasibility through planning, detailed design, construction and handover.

Independently manage bespoke and technically challenging projects across multiple sites.

Prepare and present feasibility studies, design reports, business cases and presentations for Senior Management.

Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with programme, budget and quality objectives.
Technical Leadership
-
Act as a senior technical resource for Building Regulations, planning legislation, fire safety, accessibility and construction-related matters.

Carry out technical reviews and quality assurance of projects prepared by internal team members and external consultants.

Develop and maintain departmental design standards, technical specifications and drawing templates.
-
Mentor architects, architectural technologists and CAD technicians, supporting their technical development and professional growth.
Statutory Approvals and Compliance
-
Manage Planning Applications, Fire Safety Certificates, Disability Access Certificates, BCAR processes, Commencement Notices and associated statutory submissions.

Liaise with Local Authorities, Fire Authorities, Assigned Certifiers, Building Control Authorities and other statutory bodies.

Ensure all projects comply with Building Regulations, Planning legislation, HIQA requirements, Mental Health Commission guidance and other applicable statutory and organ
Construction and Project Delivery

Undertake site inspections throughout construction.

Review contractor technical queries, design changes and construction proposals.

Coordinate multidisciplinary consultant teams and specialist suppliers.

Assist in resolving complex construction, compliance and technical issues throughout project delivery.
Department Development
-
Support the strategic development of the Building & Planning Department.

Contribute to project programming, resource planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist in developing departmental procedures, standards and governance documents.
-
Deputise for the Head of Building & Planning on technical matters when required.

Skills Requirement
Essential Criteria:

Registered Architect (RIAI or equivalent recognised professional body).

Minimum of 8 years' post-registration experience.

Proven experience leading projects from concept through construction.

Strong technical detailing and construction knowledge.
-
Experience coordinating multidisciplinary consultant teams.
-
Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
-
Extensive knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and planning legislation.
-
Experience managing Planning Applications, FSC, DAC and BCAR processes.
-
Understanding of healthcare, residential and specialist care environments.
-
Experience working with statutory authorities and regulatory bodies.
Desirable Criteria:
-
Experience within healthcare, disability, mental health or specialist residential projects.

Assigned Certifier and/or PSDP experience.
-
Public procurement experience.
-
Knowledge of HIQA and Mental Health Commission standards.

Experience developing departmental standards, specifications and technical procedures.

Familiarity with BIM and digital project delivery.
